Digital Trends on your Desktop

Believe it or not, the Windows 10 Consumer Preview made its debut at Microsoft’s launch event on way back on January 21 – which seems like an eternity ago. Several surprises at the event perfectly exemplified the direction in which digital enterprise communications are headed, namely, collaboration, personalization, interactivity, and of course, increased efficiency and improvements in the mobile workforce and technology arena.

Arguably the biggest new feature of the now released Windows 10 is its ability to customize its Start menu in ways never before possible. By moving the familiar Live Tiles applications away from the Windows 8 Start (full) screen and letting you embed them into the convenience of the Start menu, Windows 10 has provided a way to let users customize and personalize their desktop experiences – and finally make Live Tiles useful, unobtrusive, and informative. Windows 10 is also now truly a device agnostic platform, whereas you can have similar experiences, use apps, receive notifications, and collaborate on files seamlessly on your desktop, tablet, and mobile device (and in part, even your Xbox).

Microsoft’s Windows 10 roadmap and that of its other flagship product, Office, is quite clear – it aims to bridge the gap between all employees within an enterprise, regardless of where they are and what device they choose to use to complete their tasks. Office’s tagline, for example, “Takes the work out of working together,” exemplifies to digitization of the workplace.
