Designed to take the experience to a whole new level for fans, the X2O Rogers Cup Experience tablet app for the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ was developed by X2O and made available to select VIP guests in the Cisco Systems hospitality suites at the Toronto (women’s) and Montreal (men’s) tournaments.

The ultimate companion for tennis fans, the tablet app allowed users to watch live videos of Cup matches and game highlights from both sites. So if a user was in Montreal, they could easily keep tabs on the action in Toronto in real time. In addition, users could access all match scores, view player profiles, follow and send tweets on the action, and even view live weather feeds with radar maps by interacting with the stunning 3D graphics on the tablet.

The X2O Rogers Cup Experience app is built on the mobile version of X2O graphics platform, with integrated 3D support for the creation of 3D objects and tickers. The powerful platform is bolstered with support for multi-touch touchscreens and for any resolution output – from single screens to giant multi-screen command centers and video walls.

The X2O Rogers Cup Experience tablet app was available to Cisco System’s VIP guests from the semifinals on Aug. 12 through the finals on Aug. 14 in both Montreal and Toronto. A similar application was also displayed on a touchscreen inside the VIP rooms.  After the event, X2O continually provides updates for the app and it’s used as a marketing vehicle for the company’s latest news.

In March 2012, the app was awarded an “Industry Excellence Award” by the Digital Screenmedia Association (DSA) in the “Best Entertainment Deployment — Mobile” category. The DSA Industry Excellence Awards honor the best self-service, digital signage and mobile technology deployments across all vertical market segments.
