ACN Network Wins Coveted International Travel Catering Association Award
MONTREAL —March 11, 2008 — Leading digital signage solution provider X2O Media today announced that its Xpresenter system has been deployed as the foundation of Air Canada’s ACN (Air Canada News) digital signage network. ACN, which first aired in November to keep the airline’s cabin crew informed with up-to-date work-related information, was recently recognized by the International Travel Catering Association with a coveted Mercury Award in the Systems and Processing Category.
The ACN network uses the robust toolset of X2O Media’s Xpresenter digital signage suite to develop and air broadcast-quality content on digital display screens located in the airline’s Montréal In-Flight Service Crew Support Centre and In Flight Service Training Centre. By using Xpresenter’s patented graphics template approach, Air Canada staff can quickly and easily update the network with promotional videos, local news, and information regarding Air Canada products, policies, and procedures. Because Xpresenter is based on “smart templates” that automatically update from data feeds, the network also includes frequently changing data, such as flight departure information, preflight information, stock prices, and weather maps.
“Air Canada’s ACN digital signage network gives us a modern and more innovative means of communicating with our cabin crew,” said Nathalie Lemyre, Air Canada’s General Manager, Customer Service Innovation and Planning. “The greatest impact of ACN is our ability to tailor our message to varying cabin crew interests. By mixing information that is naturally of interest to our crews — such as weather information and human interest pieces — with our own product and service information, we’re better able to capture their attention and convey our message. We believe that arming our crew with up-to-date information will have a positive impact on the quality and consistency of our customer service.”
X2O Media’s flagship Xpresenter platform features powerful functionality that simplifies the digital signage content management workflow and incorporates tools for creating, distributing, and managing digital assets across a network of digital screens using an integrated central server. Digital signage operators can work directly within Microsoft® PowerPoint® to produce broadcast-quality graphics that incorporate video, animations, clip art galleries, and real-time data sources. Xpresenter includes an enhanced library of graphics templates, custom Web control screens, and tools for quickly resizing presentations to fit various display screens and monitors. With minimal effort, Xpresenter users can produce compelling presentations containing live information for virtually any type of display.
“We’re thrilled to see our Xpresenter system in action at Air Canada and would like to extend our sincere congratulations to the airline on its exciting win,” said X2O Media President and CEO David Wilkins. “Implementing this digital signage network has allowed the airline to move toward modern, dynamic communication that fundamentally better equips and motivates its staff to meet and exceed customer needs. We look forward to seeing Air Canada’s continued successes with this system in the future.”
