Remote Manager

Multi-Site Content Management System

The Xpresenter Remote Manager allows users in a central location to manage the operation of any number of remote locations from a single screen. The primary functions of the Remote Manager include.

  • Organizing remotes into groups for managing multiple players simultaneously
  • Scheduling content updates for individual remotes
  • Performing maintenance functions on individual remotes
  • Troubleshooting network problems or player issues
  • Sending control commands to individual remotes

Content for any remote location can simply be dragged onto the appropriate node in the system tree view. Individual files can be assigned a scheduled download time, as well as an expiry date after which content should no longer be downloaded. Content which is added to the tree view is automatically placed on the Media Server for delivery to the appropriate remote locations.

Depending on the requirements and system configuration, the Remote Manager can send control commands to any or all remote locations via a direct TCP connection or via a file-based command protocol using FTP. This allows the Remote Manager to control remote players both on a private intranet and across a wide area network where many of the players may be protected behind network firewalls.

The Remote Manager uses a bidirectional protocol, which means that in addition to sending control commands to each remote location, it can also receive status updates for all actions performed by each player. This allows maintenance technicians at the central location to view log files, change configuration settings, restart player systems, and manage overall system operation from the central location.
